We are a global community of ministers, practitioners and members from New Thoughts organisations embracing oneness in in a unique way, without exception or bias; dedicated to the celebration of people of African Descent.
Our vision is to recover our ancestral wisdom to educate, empower and to transform the consciousness of all participants toward a deeper wisdom and a greater love.
Our purpose is to celebrate that we are here, we have survived and we are thriving and poised to thrive even more. We intend for people of African decent to come together and learn and share spiritual principles that can be used to improve their own lives and their communities. Our abundance and wealth include this family of shared values and a dedication to Truth and Goodness.

The history of the People of African Descent New Thought Group (PADNTG), Inc. is a testament to the power of collective spiritual action in the face of systemic trauma. The organization’s genesis can be traced directly to June 15, 2015, following the tragic shooting at Mother Emanuel Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. This act of violence served as a catalyst for New Thought leaders to examine their role in addressing racial injustice.
Initially, the response was led by Reverend Summer and June Guzy, who convened a conference call with Black Unity ministers. The primary objective was to determine how the Unity movement could provide a meaningful spiritual response to such hatred. This
dialogue birthed the Charleston Group—an informal but dedicated assembly of Unity ministers who committed to meeting monthly via conference call (this was pre-Zoom!).
These calls continued for over five years. These ministers recognized that silence was no longer a spiritual option. They didn’t have a roadmap, but they had a call to action.

At first, the Charleston Group was a lifeline of support for Black ministers in Unity. Imagine a group of ministers—often the only ones of their color in high-level leadership circles—finally having a closed-door space. They weren’t just discussing theology; they
were discussing survival.
They talked about the ups and downs of institutional ministry, the exhaustion of being the only one in the room, and the unique hurdles of growing urban ministries. It became a sacred sanctuary where everyone involved could be authentically Black and authentically New Thought without apology or explanation.
By 2016, just one year after its inception, the Charleston Group’s influence began to permeate the broader Unity movement. They organized an African American luncheon at the Unity Worldwide Ministries annual convention, showcasing the talent and leadership of Black ministers and leaders. The group also facilitated workshops and panel discussions during the 2017 and 2018 Unity Worldwide Ministries conventions, ensuring that the perspectives of people of African descent were integrated into the
national conversation.

Leaders like Reverend Gregory Guice and Reverend Edith Washington-Woods recognized that the mission needed to transcend the Unity denomination. The goal was to create a pan-denominational movement that included Centers for Spiritual Living (CSL) and the Universal Foundation for Better Living (UFBL), alongside Unity.
This collaborative spirit led to the organization's official rebranding as the People of African Descent New Thought Group (PADNTG). The name was selected with intentionality, moving beyond “African American” to encompass the global African diaspora—acknowledging the interconnectedness of Black spiritual seekers worldwide.

PADNTG found a physical home at Unity Village. Historically, Unity Village has been at the heart of the New Thought movement, and by hosting PADNTG conferences there, the group asserted its rightful place within that heritage.
The 2022 and 2024 conferences were more than just meetings—they were revivals of the mind. These gatherings featured profound speakers and ministers of African descent, blending rigorous metaphysical teaching with the soul-stirring traditions of the African American spiritual experience.
The story of PADNTG is the story of turning a moment of national mourning into a movement of global awakening. It is about a group of leaders who, in the ashes of tragedy, saw the potential for a spiritual fire.
As we prepare for the August 2026 conference, the invitation is clear: this is a space for you. This is a space where your heritage is the foundation and your divinity is the ceiling. We are no longer just reacting to the world—we are creating a new one, one biennial gathering at a time.
Be part of a powerful legacy of healing, connection, and spiritual evolution. The 2026 PADNTG Conference is more than an event—it’s a call to step into community, deepen your spiritual practice, and help co-create a more just and awakened world.
Whether you are a minister, spiritual seeker, or someone longing for belonging, your presence matters. Come experience transformative teachings, soul-stirring worship, and a community that honors both your heritage and your divinity.

The Sankofa is an image of a goose reaching back gathering wisdom from the past before moving forward into the present. The Asante people of Ghana, West Africa employ these beautiful symbols to convey proverbs; spiritual and moral teachings passed down for centuries.
The Sankofa we are using was re-created by Led Bradshaw, graphic designer and author of Jet Pulse Jake Comic Books. What is special about Led's representation are the colors on the image of Africa and in the belly of the goose. These are the colors of the national flags of most of the 54 countries on the continent of Africa. In this rendition of the Sankofa the colors represent our essential character and roots. The color is vibrant and easily seen like our skin color. But, more than skin color we are the essence of mother Africa no matter where we are. We turn back to the “belly” to continue to connect and be fortified by the motherland which remains with us, active and informative.
New Thought is a worldwide movement that embraces a non-traditional approach to spirituality and fulfilling living. It honors all paths to the Divine and teaches that every person carries a spark of divinity within. Rather than viewing God as a distant or vengeful figure, we connect with Higher Power, Divine Mind, and Source Energy to see beyond limitations and embrace the positive possibilities in life.
New Thought principles are shared globally by renowned authors and spiritual teachers, including Michael Bernard Beckwith, Iyanla Vanzant, Deepak Chopra, and Eckhart Tolle. The movement is also reflected in the work of thought leaders like Anthony Robbins and Wayne Dyer, as well as transformative media like The Secret and What the Bleep Do We Know!?
While many of our members refer to themselves as "spiritual but not religious," New Thought is supported by thousands of spiritual centers and ministries worldwide. These centers offer empowered living classes, youth programs, and retreats. We focus on mindfulness, meditation, and the practical application of spiritual principles rather than traditional dogma.
This conference is a dedicated space for People of African Descent to celebrate our resilience and our victory over historical obstacles. Our purpose is to acknowledge that we are not just surviving, but thriving. By coming together to share spiritual tools, we empower our individual lives and our collective communities, ultimately making the world a better place for everyone.
Beyond personal growth, New Thought groups are active in global transformation. This includes building schools in impoverished areas, providing international resources, and participating in major global forums like the Parliament of the World’s Religions and the Association for Global New Thought. We believe in a transformed world rooted in cooperation and peace.
